Internship Day 1

Date: 26th July

Internship at: Legal Maxims

Day: 1

Today was my first day at Legal Maxims and in simple words it was: informative. I learnt and experienced things that were beyond imagination and was given great opportunities considering it was just my first say at work. I reached work super early in the morning, bubbling with excitement. My joining time was 11 am and I was standing near the building by 9:30. Since I had plenty of time to kill and tons of school work to complete, I walked around the place and found the Al Tawar centre, a small complex filled with shops, banks and a quant little coffee shop perfect for me to complete all my pending work. I sat down at the coffee shop, bought the cheapest item on the menu: Water and started off. Initially I finished off with an IELTS reading test and then got myself updated with the latest daily news. 2 hours finished with minutes and soon it was time for me to report to my new workplace. I walked in with confidence, holding a box of cookies and a smile etched on my face. Upon meeting my new boss, I was washed over with a wave of relaxation, everyone at work was so nice. They were filled to the brim with ladies and I instantly felt at home with the way everyone treated me. It felt like I had entered a new world, but surprisingly a world where I could boldly be myself. In the beginning it felt as if there was nothing that I could do, either the words on the various legal files were too difficult to comprehend, or just plain secretive and personal. I settled on helping with technical work around the office. In no time I made a bunch of new friends while helping them fix wires and printers. Even though it wasn’t the experience I was hoping to learn from when I entered the office, it sure was a fun skill to learn. After a while of sitting and talking around, I was given the task of making an animated video for the office, a skill I didn’t know would come to my rescue in the last minute. I sat down and spent over 2 hours making a 2-minute video, however it all felt worth it in the end when I saw the smiles on the faces of all my senior employees and employer. It seemed as if I had convinced them that I was worth the patience and work.

Overall, the day would be rated a solid 8 out of 10. I am looking forward to learning more in the legal field in the coming days!

Thanks :)

If anyone hasn't reminded you today, you are absolutely amazing and worth it <3
